1 ON 1 COACHING FOR ACTORS

Career Consultations

Matt offers a 90 minute comprehensive “no b.s.” career consultation for actors over zoom, where we discuss your individual goals and how to get to the next step of your career. These sessions are invididually tailored, and can be taken once, or ongoing as needed. Matt will look over all of your marketing materials and give you direct and honest feedback on your headshot, resume, AA profile, demo footage, your “type,” your resume, cover letters, website, target list, self tape setup (what equipment to buy), and anything else you need. All consultations take place over zoom. This is good for new actors breaking in, college graduates, as well as professional actors who feel “stuck.” All actors receive a digital copy of Matt’s book “The No B.S. Guide to the Acting Biz.”

Audition Coaching

Book a 30 or 60 minute time slot to prep an audition over zoom. Matt works with actors all over the world, and can usually accommodate last minute requests. If you would like to film an audition during the session, please be sure you have adequate lighting and sound.

Role Prep

You booked a role! yay! Now what do you do? Matt will help you prepare for the shoot, discussing character arc, backstory, coming up with “options,” what to expect on a film set, and how to “flesh out” and crystallize the character you created in your initial audition.

On Set Coaching

Matt has coached on dozens of TV shows and films, and will gladly assist depending on availability. Think of it as a “right hand man” to the director.

Matt Newton is a wonderful presence and works well with actors, especially young performers. He is a consummate professional, coaching well, yet staying in keeping with the directors wishes.
— kati johnson, producer, blue bloods

I owe my entire career to Matt. He taught me everything I know about breaking into the business, and led by example when we both moved to NYC to pursue acting careers. From headshots to the basics of auditioning, he helped me jump over so many hurdles I faced due to my lack of experience and training. I quickly landed a commercial agent, which led to a tv and film agent, which led to my first costar, my first recurring, and eventually my first series regular job, all because of Matt. I’ve also been lucky enough to act along side him, as in addition to being an incredible coach, he’s a gifted and experienced actor.
— Becki Newton, series regular, Lincoln Lawyer

I came to MN Acting studio needing a coach for my first lead in a indie film in 2018. What I have gained six years later, I cannot express into words how thankful I am for Matt Newton. I’ve spent most of my life as a commercial actress and a model but I knew I was ready to become part of a community of actors to establish myself in this industry. I have been coaching and training with Matt for nearly 6 years now. Within those six years I have booked a co-star appearance, two leads in feature films, countless hours of training and growth and numerous commercials. More importantly what I’ve gained from working with Matt has been support, community, growth and self-confidence as an actress. I am beyond grateful for his knowledge, ability to teach and inspire.
— Jenny Porrata, actress, "FBI", former Miss New Jersey

I’ve been acting my entire life more than three decades. Auditioning is some thing that became second nature for me. I never really considered the need for any coaching or help with regard to self tapes until I hit a bit of a point where while I was taping often, I wasn’t booking the jobs nearly as often as I had hoped. I reached out to Matt, because his reputation was stellar, and I saw firsthand, after my first session with him, what an absolute difference he made for me. Not only in the end result, (which has been incredibly impressive, I’ve booked three excellent jobs in less than a year working with Matt) but also in how I feel before, I go into making a taped audition, during the audition, and after I’ve sent it off. Matt cares tremendously about what he does and his focus is clean and simple. Thanks Matt, for opening my eyes and making selftaped fun again!”
